The Role
We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at Community TechAid (CTA). This is a new role in an expanding organisation, to help support our growing team of volunteers. You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of our volunteer programme alongside our small team. You will love working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and have experience of leading
and supporting people. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, with excellent listening skills and able to communicate with a wide range of people. Our mission is to help bridge the digital divide, and you will share this vision to support the most vulnerable in our community by helping them get online.

Working environment
CTA is based in our office in Brixton. You will be expected to work from here as needed, both to facilitate close coordination of volunteers, and also to maintain core opening hours when others are not available to do so. Some work will be completed remotely.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead CTA’s volunteer programme by attracting, recruiting, inducting, training and supporting volunteers
2. Ensure effective organisation, administration, and communication between volunteers and staff in order to meet CTA’s operational needs
3. Support CTA’s marketing and communications with regular content to promote CTA’s charitable work and attract new volunteers
4. Manage volunteers to deliver operational support including effective management of our device pipeline
5. Lead on monitoring and evaluation of all volunteers in order to report against CTA’s strategic objectives
6. Support the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures for successful volunteer coordination
7. Develop relationships with a wide range of partners to establish and manage initiatives that support volunteers to develop in employment, in their personal life and in the broader community
8. Support the development of CTA’s long-term volunteer strategy including supported volunteering and work experience programmes
9. Provide operational support to the CTA team as and when required
10. Champion CTA’s work in all communications

Person Specification

Essential
● Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven experience of liaising with a wide range of people from volunteers to external stakeholders
● Proven experience of coordinating volunteers or line management of other staff
● Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload
● Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding issues and the management of risk
● Ability to work to high personal and professional standards, and proactively towards challenging personal and organisational goals
● Experience of establishing and building relationships with external organisations
● Computer literate with proven experience in use of Microsoft and Google Suites and strong competence in data management
● Passionate about ending the digital divide and a commitment to CTA’s values
● Clear commitment toward diversity and inclusion

Desirable

● Experience of leading a team, demonstrating strong motivational and collaborative leadership
● Strong working knowledge of the voluntary sector, particularly in south London
