XO Barbers is part of Onwards & Upwards, a charity that trains and employs ex-offenders as barbers, breaking the cycle of reoffending one great haircut at a time. We’ve trained two graduating classes, run four courses inside Brixton Prison, and cut over 256 heads so far. Our Blackfriars Road space has been our training hub since January 2026 — now we’re turning it into a fully-fledged barbershop, and we need a brilliant barber to help lead the way.
The Role
You’ll run your own chair all day, every day — from walk-ins and regulars in the morning through to the evening shift, when the space converts into a commercial barbershop staffed by our graduates. It’s a lively, ever-changing environment, and you’ll be a key part of making it work while also being a role model for our trainees.
What you’ll be doing:
· Keeping a busy chair going from open to close, delivering great cuts consistently
· Helping the shop transition smoothly from training mode to trading mode each day
· Managing your own bookings and walk-ins with confidence
· Pitching in with front-of-house and light supervision of the space (there’s a supervisory element to this role)
· Flagging any resourcing needs, breakages or client issues to the General Manager
· Keeping things safe and compliant, reporting any incidents
· Using Booksy and our POS system (we’ll train you on-site)
What We’re Looking For
· A genuinely excellent barber with a style you’re proud of
· Someone already working the SE1 patch, with clients who’ll follow you
· A team player who can mentor and inspire trainees, not just cut hair
· Flexibility — no two days look the same here
· Comfortable with (or willing to learn) Booksy and POS systems
· Great communicator, well organised, and can balance cutting with a bit of supervising when needed
Application process: Contact your advisor to check you meet the requirements of the role. If suitable, they will ask you to complete and send the a cover letter and tailored CV for this position.
