This is an excellent opportunity If you hold a full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification. We are looking for a passionate, inspiring leader to help deliver outstanding care and education to 16 mixed-aged children, in a small North Oxford Nursery.
We need a deputy manager 1-year maternity cover starting from Monday 8th May 2023.
Our setting is a warm, friendly, family orientated nursery, with a small, dedicated team. We are looking for someone who will enjoy the challenge of providing excellent care to mixed-aged children ranging from 6 months to 4 years.
Hours of work: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:15pm with an additional weekly staff meeting.
You’re Responsibilities:
- Be a key person to four mixed aged children and work in a leadership role within a team of five staff carrying out key person and managerial duties.
- Support the Manager with the ongoing evaluation and development of the nursery and be active and supportive in making improvements and changes which enhance the quality of the provision.
- Understand the leadership tasks and responsibilities needed for a busy mixed-aged nursery and the ability to delegate where necessary.
- Experience of managing staff with a sound knowledge of child protection procedures, and a commitment to safeguarding children.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with parents, staff, and other agencies, to meet the needs of every child.
- Assist the manager in ensuring all Ofsted legislation, special needs, safeguarding and health and safety is complied with and that all setting policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Deal with any complaints or issues as they arise in a sensitive and professional manner and in accordance with the nursery’s policies and Ofsted requirements.
- In collaboration with the Nursery Manager, identify and deliver relevant training and support staff self-reflection and development plans, including mentoring for all staff.
- Lead and inspire our team to deliver exceptional care, learning and development to all children from 9 months to four years of age.
- Must have a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and can plan for, record, and assess all aspects of a child’s learning for your 4 key children.
- The ability to work on own initiative, organise and prioritise own workload.
- An understanding of and commitment to a play-based approach to children’s learning and development
- An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities
- Have competent I.T and literacy skills.
- Assist with the delivery of weekly staff meetings and attend and contribute to committee meetings once a term.
- Maintain staff/child ratios and arrange supply cover if needed.
- Be Confident in making on the spot decisions and changes when needed.
- Be a cheerful well motivated person with a positive, can-do attitude, and a sense of humour.
