The System Administrator is responsible for the effective provision, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems’ hardware and software and related infrastructure. The principal duty is ensuring the reliable, effective and secure operation of systems now and in the future. Additional duties may include supporting projects.
This person may participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values and policies.
This person may advise project teams on technical issues in the start-up and risk-reduction stages of our standard project management methodology.
These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life cycle; technical
analysis and design; and support of Operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life cycle.

Tasks and duties
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
Liaising with other System Administrators for tasks as required Core Duties
• Understand the principles of system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
• Contribute to the College’s business continuity and disaster recovery plans. In addition to the general duties outlined above each Dulwich College System Administrator is responsible for and accountable for particular aspects of the services delivered by the team. They are expected and required to show above average skill and leadership in these aspects.

Additional Duties
• The provisioning and maintenance of wired and wireless networks.
• Providing advice on networking and ICT and liaising with sub-contractors during the design and execution of building works
• Any other duties that may reasonably be requested to assist in the smooth and professional operation of the Department.

The post holder will undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work with the safeguarding policies of the organisation.
All staff must take care of their own health and safety and that of others, observe applicable safety rules, follow instructions for the safe use of
equipment and co-operate with managers on health and safety matters (including the investigation of any incident).

Required skills
You will need to have an understanding of the following:
• Active Directory
• Firewall Ports
• IP’s, Subnets and VLANS
• Windows Desktop and Server OS

Desirable skills
Whilst not essential, it will aid your application if you have experience of:
• Microsoft Entra
• Conditional Access
• Fortigate firewalls
• Mac OS
• Virtualisation

Essential Qualifications and Experience
• Education to A Level or equivalent
• Hard working and ability to work as part of a Team
