Background
Longfield Hall is a thriving, accessible cultural space where creativity and community meet. Our Grade II listed building has engaged local people with culture for over 100 years – and was the home to Britain’s first Black led theatre company, Dark & Light Theatre.

We aim to build community confidence and skills through inspiring creative opportunities – particularly performing arts.

We programme ongoing professional theatre alongside community productions, and also hire out our venue space for rehearsals and private events – generating vital revenue to support the delivery of our youth/community programmes and activities.

 

Job Description
Hires management:

Manage email, phone, and on-site enquiries.
Manage contracts and hires information
Develop a relationship with the current customers/partners and potential hirers/supporters.

Health and Safety:
Taking the lead on Health & Safety across the building
Manage due diligence checks and contractors
Carry out a monthly Health & Safety thorough inspection, produce a report and organise rectifying works.
Carry out a monthly fire drill.
Implement best practices and Food & Safety guidelines.

Building management:
Manage LH spaces including office equipment, cleaner contract, cleaning materials, equipment inventories and general smooth day-to-day running of the building.
Carry out weekly building inspections, report and organise rectifying works.
Practical management, preparing spaces for activities.
Report problems, guide maintenance, encourage high performance.

Other:
Manage Longfield Voices (our community choir). Communicate with attendees regularly. Get their feedback every 6 weeks and plan with the facilitator feasible live performances.
Advising and working with the Board of Trustees, reporting directly to the Artistic Director
Support the Artistic Director and Youth Programme Manager with internal bookings, communications, e.g., photos, and website maintenance

 Person specification:
Have excellent people management experience
Be well organized, flexible and self-motivated
Confident forging relationships with stakeholders, partners and other Hall users
Have interpersonal, written and numeracy skills
Have IT skills and familiar with Microsoft 365
Have experience working with diverse audiences
Have initiative to take action in your work area to support the mission and vision of LH, capitalising on opportunities

Please note that this role does not offer remote working due to the on-site nature of the duties.
There is some flexibility regarding how the 20 hours are scheduled within the week and could fit into school schedule.
