General Operative

Job Description:

Established for over 30 years, Houston Cox is a leading specialist in carpentry and joinery.  Having already worked on Lendlease prestigious projects, such as IQL in Stratford, Sayer Street, Elephant & Castle, One the Elephant and Elephant Park MP2, they are now moving onto the next phase of the build.

They are looking to take on local Southwark jobless residents as general operatives to support their team.

Working on the project, the successful candidate will keep all areas clean, move and provide materials where needed.  Clear and sort waste into the appropriate bins and recycling.  They are looking for a committed, reliable team worker.

General labouring duties will also be included and a can-do attitude to assist the teams to complete the essential works on balconies.  Therefore, it is essential they have an eye for detail, are accurate and take pride in their work and are a team player.  The role does require a level of responsibility, trust and ability to work alone.

Person Spec

• Have the right to work in the UK
• Must be a Lewisham resident and unemployed
• Proof of ID such as Passport or Driving License, Proof of Address, NI Card/Number
• A valid CSCS Card
• Some previous construction site experience desired but not essential
• Ability to work at an accurate pace
• Must have good attendance
• Must be reliable with good timekeeping
• Desire to work/learn
• Willingness to listen
• Ability to follow instruction
• Good team working skills
• Respect for others
•  ‘Can-do’ attitude
• Construction sites have zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol on site and random tests are carried out.  If tested positive, immediate removal from site with a life ban on working on a Lendlease site.
