We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised, motivated individual to join the voluntary services team. Over the last few years we have increased the number of volunteers in the Trust to 700 and are able to offer a diverse range of volunteering opportunities on the hospital sites and in the community
Your main area of responsibility will be to recruit and manage volunteers in the Cancer Centre and develop the volunteer role in response to need. You will also be an integral member of the wider voluntary services team to help us expand our services to areas where volunteers can make a real difference to the patient experience.
The Trust sees volunteering as a two way process: volunteers will gain skills, experience and a sense of contributing to society and the Trust gains a person who is regarded as an integral part of our workforce. Volunteers contribute to our values of providing a compassionate and caring experience for our patients, carers and visitors.
This role is very people focused and you will need to demonstrate you have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and be used to dealing with a diverse range of people. The role will involve liaising with staff in the Trust to recruit volunteers to existing and new roles, organising interviews, completing checks for volunteers and supporting both the volunteers and the departments they volunteer for on an ongoing basis.
You will need to have excellent IT skills and be able to use Microsoft packages including word, excel and access.
Our team sits within the Chief Nurses Office and we are part of the Patient Experience Team along with Patient Advice and Liaison. Voluntary services are a small but friendly team and we are looking for a person to join us who puts patient experience first, understands and appreciates the contribution volunteers make, has the ability to use their own initiative and has a flexible approach to work and people.
