Construction Youth Trust

Rolling NEETs Targeted Support Programme

Our programme is designed to support young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and interested in construction and built environment careers. Through an employer-led programme combining bespoke 1 -1 coaching and group sessions, we aim to help young people to discover careers best suited to their skills and interests and support them to make positive progression on their career journey.

1-2-1 Support & Individual Action Plan Industry Qualifications

  • Each young person is partnered with a dedicated Construction Youth Trust coach
  • A bespoke action plan is created in collaboration with the young person, aligned to their aims, interests and level of support needed
  • Throughout the programme young people will take part in a number of 1-1 sessions to support positive progress

Practical Tasters & Employability Sessions

  • Based on their interests, young people will be invited to take part in practical taster sessions led by industry professionals to expand their career knowledge as well as attend site/workplace visits
  • Young people will attend employability sessions to develop the kind of skills employers look for and prepare them for the world of work

Relatable Industry Role Models

Across the programme, young people will be supported by relatable industry role models including those only a few steps ahead, such as current apprentices, to inspire them about available opportunities and raise their career aspirations.

For those young people interested in site-based careers they will be given the opportunity to gain their Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction and Built Environment Qualification as well prepare and take their CSCS card test, fully funded and facilitated by the Trust.

Next step progression

Our aim for every young person we work with is to support them to make a successful next step on their career journey by expanding their professional networks and connecting them to local opportunities.

  • Work experience & work trials

As well as taking part in practical tasters and employability sessions, we also facilitate work experience and work trial placements with local employers, encouraging paid placements where possible

  • Live Vacancies Sessions

Through our Live Vacancies Sessions we bring together young people and local employers with current live vacancies. After hearing directly from an employer about their opportunities, our Trust coaches will support a young person to make applications; supporting them across the whole process from application submission to interview to the first day at work!

Referring Young People

To refer a young person please ask your Trust contact for a referral form.

Next steps include a 1-1 meeting with the young person to explain the programme and fill in a registration form before beginning the development of their individual IAP.
