Main purpose of role/overview:
To obtain skills to assist with and supporting an NVQ level 2 therefore it is desirable that the candidate has already achieved a Level 1 in the Bricklaying trade.
The role is for 6 Months.
Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Main Responsibilities & Duties
1. Health & Safety
Ensure that all work activities are carried out in line with the sub-contractors Health and safety plan.
Including HPL health and safety requirements
Understanding measuring the work area and basic setting out
Mixing mortar correctly
Laying bricks and blocks
Measuring and cutting of bricks and blocks (under supervision)
Understanding how to line and level work
Ensuring the work area is kept tidy
Working in all weather conditions
Take pride in work
Checking courses are straight and gauged correctly
Presentation of completed work
Protection of completed work
Take ownership of completed work
Ability to follow instructions
Good communication skills
Take pride in their appearance
A customer focused approach
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
Understand the value of the materials that are being used.
Understand waste is to be minimised
4. People Management
To work in partnership with other departments and work as a team
Ability to listen and follow instructions

5. General Requirements
Undertake other ad hoc duties as and when required
Some knowledge of Bricklaying is preferred
Have good numeracy and literacy skills

Notting Hill Genesis and Southwark Council are working in partnership on the regeneration of the Aylesbury Estate, South East London.
Together we are committed to delivering a masterplan for 3,500 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable. 75% of the affordable homes will be social rented homes and 25% will be shared ownership or shared equity. At least 30% of the homes across all tenures will have three bedrooms or more.
The regeneration is about more than new homes, community facilities and improved open spaces. The partnership is committed to ensuring that local people experience the social and economic benefits of regeneration, such as employment, education and training and improvements in health and well being.
Construction of the new homes is anticipated to start in 2018 and the entire regeneration project is expected to finish in 2036.
